We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kitty Brayne as our new Co-Director: Programmes and Partnerships. Kitty assumes her role in April, at a key moment for Well Grounded as we build on our strong foundations from a decade of strengthening environmental and social justice across the Congo Basin, and while global interest in the region from a climate perspective grows. Kitty’s appointment will reinforce the Well Grounded team who work closely with civil society organisations that support communities engaged in managing natural resources, enabling them to become more effective, strategic and well led.
Kitty will take up her appointment on Monday 3 April 2023.
Kitty joins Well Grounded bringing fifteen year’s experience supporting community-led conservation efforts, with a particular focus on Madagascar and Comoros. For the past nine years Kitty has been with marine conservation organisation Blue Ventures, initially managing the Madagascar country programme, and then later establishing and managing their global evidence and learning function. A central component of her work to date has been supporting organisational development and leadership within programme teams, community-based organisations and civil society networks.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Well Grounded team at this pivotal stage in their journey. There has never been a more critical need for Well Grounded’s mission of building environmental and social justice, and I look forward to working alongside civil society organisations in the Congo basin region to address some of the world’s most pressing conservation priorities.”
“We are really excited to welcome Kitty to the Well Grounded team. African communities and African civil society organisations are increasingly taking leadership in working for social and environmental justice and Well Grounded has a vital role to play in supporting them as they take a central role. Kitty will be a great addition to our team and we are looking forward to working with her as our organisation grows and develops.”
