Mireille has worked for Well Grounded at our regional office in Yaoundé since it was set up in February 2012. She is from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and her native language is Swahili. She is also fluent in Lingala, French and English and has basic Kinyarwanda, Kirundi and Creole.
Mireille studied business management and international trade in the DRC. She also has a Master’s degree in the Management of International Development and Humanitarian Aid Organisations.
Mireille worked for five years in the Congo and the Great Lake region, for Congolese voluntary organisations and international non-governmental organisations, taking responsibility for administration, finance and human resources. In the Great Lake region, she worked with ICCO, a Dutch international non-governmental organisation supporting civil society organisations in financial management.
Before joining Well Grounded, Mireille worked in the Caribbean for two years. Her most recent assignment was for Handicap International, where she was responsible for finance in a programme of support for disabled people who fall victim to earthquakes.
Mireille’s dual career path, working both in and alongside national voluntary organisations and in international organisations, has given her an expertise in the issues that national organisations face in their day-to-day operations and in their relationships with international organisations and donors, and vice versa. This gives real added value in supporting civil society organisations in the Congo Basin.
Mireille has a continuing interest in organisation development and in support for organisational change management.
