Open Expeditions are for individuals or groups who have missed the chance to do their training or qualifying expedition with their school or uniformed organisation. Our Open Expeditions give you the chance to catch up on your training or qualifying expedition with qualified supervisors and assessors in an environment fit for your level of experience. As part of your Open Expedition with Off Grid Adventures, we will make sure you have everything you need for a successful expedition. We are there for you from start to finish. What we provide at every level:

  • One-Hit Exped: training and qualifying expeditions combined

  • Split-Hit: separate training and qualifying expeditions to suit you

  • Good communication – ask us anything about the expedition

  • An online meeting before the expedition to ask questions and get more information

  • An expedition pack in advance – containing a kit list, what food to bring, how to pack your rucksack and how the expedition will work

  • Qualified supervisors and assessors with loads of experience and First Aid qualified

  • Locations that are right for your level in places that are accessible for drop offs and pick ups and approved by DofE

  • Reasonable expedition start and finish time to ensure you can get to the drop off and pick up points

  • Campsite fees

  • Tents, cookers and fuel, maps and compasses

  • Support planning your qualifying route

  • Presentation of the group aim to the assessor at Silver and Gold level

  • Up-to-date Covid 19 briefings to make your expedition Covid secure

  • FUN!

We do not provide transport to and from the locations. We do not provide food. You can hire a rucksack and roll mat from us if you do not have your own. You will need to complete a medical consent form before the expedition (see our GDPR policy).
