Well Grounded is pleased to invite you to the fourth event in our series aimed at discovering the positive heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of the Congo Basin.

The Indigenous communities of the Congo Basin are increasingly distinguished by three types of identities: traditionalists, mixing traditions and modernity, and modernists. However, the common point between them all remains the forest, a unique space for the development of their spirituality and traditional knowledge. Recent steps have resulted in the granting or acquisition of forest areas where the Indigenous communities re-integrate life in the forest but, beyond that, develop initiatives for their community development. These different forms of occupation and management of these spaces are facing several major challenges. In this webinar we will discuss challenges and lessons learned in community forestry initiatives and the capitalisation of traditional Indigenous knowledge.

Speakers:

Emile Elenga (Cameroon): Indigenous Baka, President of the Baka association of Lomié (ASBAK), Eastern region of Cameroon
