“Discovering the Positive Heritage of the IPs of the Congo Basin” is a series of online and face to face events aimed at rejuvenating the pride and positive identity of IPs in the Congo Basin, reigniting the flame of indigenous leadership.

A journey of  “Discoveries”

The events will:

• Positively influence potential negative perceptions of IPs leading to the recognition of a strong people, capable of leading their communities in a changing world;
• Inspire and stimulate the awakening of self-awareness and self-empowerment in IPs;
• Highlight the diversity of Congo Basin IPs’ identities, through storytelling demonstrating where ‘power’ is most expressive and meaningful, so that the self-perception of indigenous communities is improved.

 Timing and format of the “Discoveries” journey

 From January to June 2023, we will host six online and face-to-face events to discover inspiring stories, viewpoints, and the essential culture of IPs.

A learning discussion around ‘discoveries’ will explore the foundations of Indigenous Leadership. The online events will result from a compilation of reports, recorded or live testimonies and face-to-face activities.
