Introduction to Well Grounded’s external evaluation

In 2013, Well Grounded hired Ternstrom Consulting to carry out an evaluation of our current practice in organisation development so that we can consolidate, improve and/or change our practice; and also so that we can evaluate whether or not we are en route to deliver on the objectives we have set for ourselves for 2015 in relation to our funding from the UK Department for International Development.

The objectives of the external evaluation were as follows:

  • To document Well Grounded’s approaches to organisation development from its establishment in 2010 to the present day, including particular case studies of work with local and national organisations in the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo;
  • To report on the strengths and weaknesses of the approaches taken to date, in particular as to whether they are enabling organisations to improve their performance in relation to Well Grounded’s benchmarks;
  • To reflect on the perceived and actual needs of organisations in the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo in relation to their own development and the extent to which Well Grounded is meeting these;
  • To assess whether Well Grounded’s current approaches and practice will enable it to deliver on its long-term objectives;
  • To make recommendations as to how Well Grounded can consolidate, improve and/or change its work.
