Provide appropriate management and support for the people involved in the organisation

We want to manage and support people justly in a way that serves the purpose of the organisation

  1. Individuals can explain their roles and responsibilities and how they fit into the organisation. Records of salaries are kept.
  2. There are job descriptions in place for staff members. Each person formally employed by the organisation has a contract that respects national employment law. Staff and volunteers have regular performance management meetings with their line managers. We have disciplinary procedures in place that everyone is aware of.
  3. There is an agreed system in place for deciding recruitment, setting salaries, setting individual objectives and reviewing individuals’ performances which is clear and fair. The policies for rewarding and supporting staff are regularly reviewed and adjusted where necessary to ensure that they are continuing to serve the needs and purpose of the organisation. We ensure that our staff and volunteers have access to a wide range of training opportunities.

People are key to any organisation: they are what keeps it alive and moving towards its vision and objectives. These people may be staff members, volunteers, members of a governing body, community members involved in projects, or consultants. These people may be involved with the organisation on a day-to-day basis or only occasionally. In a healthy organisation, all of these different people will bring a variety of skills, experience and knowledge and will inspire one another with ideas and motivation.

Well Grounded believes that it is crucial for any organisation to pay attention to people – how they are supported to do their work, how they learn and develop, and how they can feel that they are contributing to the organisation as a whole.
